President Dr Mohamed Waheed has today returned Political Party Bill, to the People’s Majlis for reconsideration.
The Bill was passed by the People’s Majlis on December 27, 2012.
In a letter sent to the Speaker of the People’s Majlis returning the Bill, the President detailed the main issues noted by the Attorney General regarding the Bill.
The President’s letter state that the Bill has contradictions with the Constitution and if ratified could restrict the fundamental rights and freedoms guaranteed in the Constitution.
