President Dr Mohamed Waheed has spoken on the importance of technical staff from all ministries to visit the islands and share their suggestions and opinions on ways to attain more development for the islands. The President made this remark while speaking to the people of Gaafu Alifu Nilandhoo, as part of his current visit to some islands in the Gaafu Alifu Atoll.
The President called on the staff at the different ministries to expand their services outside of Male’ and to travel to the islands and work with the citizen there.
In his speech, President Waheed pointed out that there were low-budget projects that could be carried out for the development and progress of the islands. He also said that it was important for the people, the island councils, and the government to work together, to come up with new, innovative ideas to achieve the developmental goals.
In his speech, the President also spoke on the importance of the government providing its public services equally and justly among the people; and to provide the services without regard to a particular political affiliation, according to the constitution and the rule of law. He further reassured that this administration was in line with the policies of good governance, treating everyone equally.
