President Dr Mohamed Waheed and Madam Ilham Huissain last evening hosted a dinner in honour of world renowned humanitarian leader Sri Sri Ravi Shankar.
Speaking at the dinner, President Waheed noted Sri Sri Ravi Shankar’s efforts to foster peace and build communal unity.
At the dinner, President Waheed presented a commemorative plaque to Sri Sri Ravi Shankar in appreciation for his humanitarian work.
Sri Sri Ravi Shankar has been awarded with several international awards. He is the founder of The Art of Living Foundation which is an international, non-profit, educational and humanitarian organization. The foundation has initiated many programs to provide assistance to people from a wide range of backgrounds – victims of natural disasters, survivors of terror attacks and war, children from marginalised populations and communities in conflict, amongst others.
The dinner was attended by the famous Indian veteran actor Vinod Khannna and his family as well as officials of the Indian High Commission and Indian entrepreneurs in Maldives.
