President Dr Mohamed Waheed has expressed his hopes that the island of Dhuvaafaru would adopt renewable energy technology in the next year. The President made this remark while speaking to the people of Dhuvaafaru this afternoon, as part of his current tour of some islands in the North Maalhosmadulu Atoll. The President revealed that the necessary agreements have been signed, and that the project would be undertaken with international aid.

In his speech the President addressed the challenges being faced in the island, and shared with the people, the government’s plans for social development in the island. He also noted the issue of youth unemployment, and underlined ways to enhance the skills of the youth in the island.
