President Dr Mohamed Waheed has appealed to the people of the Maldives to set aside our own differences and not to aggravate each other. The President made this appeal while addressing the people of Kinolhas as part of his current tour of some islands in the North Maalhosmadulu Atoll.
Addressing the people of the island, the President noted that the support and assistance of one another was very important for the Maldives’ young democracy to function properly, and called upon the parliament, the government, and the public to work together. The President also spoke on the importance of protecting our Islamic kinship, the unity, independence and harmony in the Maldives, for the nation to remain as it is.
In his speech, the President Waheed highlighted the many challenges being faced in the economic and political systems in the Maldives. He especially noted the many developmental issues faced in the islands, and said that the government continues to work towards achieving true development for the Maldives.
