President Dr Mohamed Waheed has sent greetings to the people of the Maldives, on the occasion of the Hijri New Year.
In his message to the people the President said:
“It gives me great pleasure to extend sincere greetings and good wishes to the beloved people of the Maldives on the happy occasion of the Hijri New Year”.
The message also stated that as we greet a new Hijri year, it was a great opportunity to strengthen the unity and familial bonds amongst us, to ensure a peaceful, harmonious social environment.
President Waheed has also sent New Year greetings to the leaders of Islamic countries and heads of international organisations. He has also been receiving New Year greetings from them.
