President Dr Mohamed Waheed today officially opened the Baa Dharavandhoo Airport. The Airport was officially opened with the unveiling of the name board of Dharavandhoo Airport by the President.
On arrival, the President’s flight was greeted with a water salute. Following the inauguration of the airport, a welcome item was performed by the students of Dharavandhoo School.
At the inauguration of the Dharavandhoo Airport, the President spoke on the importance of catering to the visiting tourists in the island. Speaking in this regard, the President said that the government was always working on developing airports in different regions of the Maldives, to strengthen the transport system in the country and provide easier means of transportation to the people.
In his speech, President Waheed noted that the on-going infrastructure development programmes facilitate the advancement of the aviation industry.
At the ceremony, a commemorative plaque was presented to President Dr Mohamed Waheed. The plaque was presented by the President of Dharavandhoo Island Council Ahmed Rasheed.
