Commander of the Sri Lankan Army Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya has paid a courtesy call on President Dr Mohamed Waheed today.
At the meeting held at the President’s Office, the President and the Army Commander noted that it was a very close and trusted bond between the armed forces of the Maldives and Sri Lanka. Discussions at the meeting were held on conducting training exercises for the army personnel, and on maintaining security of the Indian Ocean region.
The President expressed his gratitude to the Sri Lankan Army for the assistance provided over the years, in training Maldivian army personnel.
