President Mohamed Nasheed and First Lady Laila Ali last night met with Maldivian Scouts and Girl Guides participating in the 26th Asia Pacific Regional (APR) Scout Jamboree. President Nasheed is also the Chief Scout while First Lady Laila Ali is the Chief Guide of the Maldives.

Addressing the Scouts and Guides, at a meeting held at Hiriyaa School last evening, President Nasheed highlighted the importance of scouting in development of youth and teaching them the necessary life skills. He noted the unparalleled opportunities scouting provide for the development of a broader outlook of youth.

26th Asia Pacific Regional Scout Jamboree will be held from 28 December to 3 January in mountain of Makiling, in the Philippines.

At the meeting, President Nasheed urged Maldivian Scouts and Girl Guides attending the Jamboree to take the full advantage of the Jamboree. He said the experiences they attain in this Jamboree would be beneficial for their entire lives.

172 Scouts and Girl Guides from the Maldives will participate in 26th Asia Pacific Scout Jamboree.
