President and First Lady extend condolences to the family of late Dr Afrasheem Ali

President Dr Mohamed Waheed and First Lady Madam Ilham Hussain have met with the family of late Dr Afrasheem Ali, Parliament Member for the Raa Ungoofaaru region, who was stabbed to death in the early hours of 2 October.

The President and the First Lady personally met with the family at their home this afternoon, on arrival to Male’ following the conclusion of their recent visit to the United States.

Upon meeting the wife of late Dr Afrasheem Ali, Ms Quraisha Mohamed, and the children, the President and First lady extended their profound condolences. The President condemned the brutal act in the strictest terms.

Speaking to the family of Dr Afrasheem Ali, the President highlighted Dr Afrasheem Ali’s invaluable services in the parliament and in spreading religious awareness in the country.
