President Mohamed Nasheed has participated in a late-night session of climate change negotiations in Copenhagen, held in a last minute attempt to save a climate change agreement.

The Maldives included among about 23 other nations from key blocs.

Apart from President Nasheed, UN Secretary General, President of European Commission, US Secretary of State, German Chancellor, British Prime Minister, French President, and Brazilian President attended the talks. Also, Norway, Russia, Spain, Britain, United States, Denmark, Australia, Germany, France, Sweden and Japan, as well as representative from Grenada, with Sudan, Algeria, Ethiopia and Lesotho from Africa participated in the talks.

After the negotiations some countries expressed renewed hope of closing a deal in Copenhagen.
