President Dr Mohamed Waheed today opened an art exhibition on the recent change of power in the Maldives on 7 February 2012, organised by Adhaalath party.

At the ceremony held this morning at the National Art Gallery, the President said that being persistent about one’s own views without regard to that of others, and creating conflict among the society, was not a quality of the devoted. He called upon everyone to set aside personal interest and give priority to the brotherhood and close unity among us.

Further, regarding the changes that had been experienced by the country today, the President said that every individual had a different view on the political events that took place from the last part of 2011 to the first part of 2012. He said that this exhibition displayed the vision of the majority of the people.

However, the President noted that there was a minority of people with contradicting views, and spoke on the importance of a mechanism that was acceptable by all, in order to guarantee the facts of the events.
