President Dr Mohamed Waheed today met with the Maldivian national netball team taking part in the 8th Asian Championship, and the Asian Beach Netball tournament. The tournaments will be held in Sri Lanka, beginning on 25 August and 1 September respectively.
Speaking to the players and team officials, President Waheed encouraged all players to perform well in both tournaments, and excel in the sport.
At the meeting, Vice President of the Netball Association Mohamed Nabeel briefed President Waheed on the different events being organised by the Netball Association, and the challenges being faced by the association. He also noted the assistance and support being provided by the Ministry of Human Resources, Youth and Sports and the government, to the national netball team in their preparations for the two tournaments.
