During his visit to Copenhagen to attend the United Nations Climate Change Conference, President Mohamed Nasheed has today met with COP15 President and Danish Environmental Minister, Ms Connie Hedegaard.

At the meeting, the President conveyed the priorities of vulnerable countries like the Maldives. He stressed on the urgency of action on climate change impacts and on the importance of a positive outcome in Copenhagen.

The President also today chaired a side event at UNFCCC COP15, entitled “Advancing work on adaptation to climate change: A United Nations system perspective”.

The meeting was attended by senior officials of United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), United Nations Environmental Programme (UNEP), World Food Programme (WFP), and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).
