President Dr. Mohamed Waheed has condemned in the strictest terms, the fatal attack on Lance Corporal Adam Haleem, of the Maldives Police Service, in the early hours of Monday morning. The late LCpl Adam Haleem was stabbed while reporting for duty at the Kaashidhoo Police Station.

In a press statement issued today, the President has said that it was with deep distress and profound sadness that he learnt of the stab attack on LCpl Adam Haleem.

The President also extended his deepest condolences to the bereaved family, at this time of grief.

In his press statement, President Waheed has said that the government will not tolerate any such attacks on law enforcing personnel or to civilians. The President further reiterated that individuals who carry out such acts of brutality, and those who encourage and incite such acts, will be brought to justice.

The President also called upon all law enforcement agencies to implement the strictest punishment on those responsible, and assured the people that the government will not step back in ensuring the safety and security of the people.
