United States Ambassador to the Maldives, Patricia A. Butenis has paid her farewell call on President Dr Mohamed Waheed this morning.
At the meeting held at the President’s Office, the President expressed his gratitude to the Ambassador, for her cooperation and close friendship with the Maldives during her tenure. The President also conveyed his hopes to further strengthen the close mutual relations the two countries held.
President Waheed highlighted the economic and political challenges being faced in the Maldives today, and briefed Ambassador Butenis on the measures being taken by the government in solving the matters.
Ambassador Butenis praised the President’s light and calm approach to stabilizing the situation in the Maldives. She also noted the importance of communicating with the public, the major decisions taken by the government; and the participation of the people in implementing the different developmental programmes in the islands.
