President Dr Mohamed Waheed, by decree, has today reconstituted the Commission of National Inquiry and reappointed members to the Commission.
Mr Ismail Shafeeu and Former Singaporean judge, Justice G Pannirselvam were appointed as Co-chairs of the Commission. Other members of the Commission are Dr Ibrahim Yasir Ahmed, Dr Ali Fawaz Shareef, and Mr Ahmed Saeed, who was nominated by former President Nasheed.
Two representatives from the Commonwealth and the United Nations will act as advisors to the commission.
The Commission of National Inquiry was established to make an independent and impartial investigation into developments in the Maldives from 14 January 2012 to 8 February 2012.
The Commission’s report of its investigations is to be submitted to the President by 31 July 2012.
