President Dr Mohamed Waheed has appealed to all school teachers to avoid politicising our school children. The President made this appeal while addressing the people of Vashafaru, as part of his current visit to some islands in Haa Alifu Atoll.

In his speech, the President noted that the school system should be one that provided an environment of good upbringing and exemplary manners to the children.

Highlighting the important role of teachers in nurturing our children, the President said that the most significant institution in building our future was our school system. The President also called on all teachers to protect our schools from the societal differences and disagreements, and make it a safe haven for our children.

His next stop in his tour of Haa Alifu was Kelaa Island. Meeting the people of Kelaa, the President spoke on the challenges faced by the people, and the government’s plans for the development of the island.
