The cabinet has today decided for the Local Government Authority to administer the approval of official seals of each local council, as it was the only government institution monitoring local councils in the Maldives. The decision was made following deliberations on a paper presented by the Ministry of Home Affairs.
At today’s meeting, the cabinet also decided that starting this year, Fishermen’s Day would again be marked on December 10. The cabinet made the decision after discussions held on a paper presented by the Ministry of Fisheries and Agriculture, on the difficulties faced in marking the day on October 16, as decided in the year 2011.
Fishermen’s Day has officially been marked in the Maldives on December 10 since 1981 until 2011, when it was changed to October 16.
