The National Honours Committee has opened nominations for this year’s National Awards today. The government confers two categories of National Awards annually – the National Award of Honour and the National Award of Recognition.

At a press conference held at the President’s Office, Chairman of the Committee Abdul Rasheed Hussain and the members of the Committee provided additional details on the National Awards, and the amendments brought to the criteria.

The service duration considered for conferring of the National Award of Honour remains the same. However, the criteria for conferring of the National Award of Recognition have been revised. The National Award of Recognition will now be conferred to individuals who have served for 7 years in their respective field of work, instead of the original 10 years of service.

Nominations will stay open from 1 June 2012 to 31 July 2012.

Nomination forms are available at the President’s Office during office hours, and can also be downloaded from the President’s Office website, www.presidencymaldives.gov.mv
