President Dr Mohamed Waheed and First Lady Madam Ilham Hussain have arrived back in Male’ this evening, on conclusion of their official visit to India.

The President made this visit on the invitation of Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh.

During his visit to India, President Waheed met with President Pratibha Patil, Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, and other key officials of the Indian government; including Foreign Secretary Ranjan Mathai, National Security Advisor Shivshankar Menon, and Minister of External Affairs S. M. Krishna.

The President also met with the diplomatic community in New Delhi, and Indian business leaders in Delhi and Mumbai. As part of his visit, the President delivered a lecture at the Indian Council of World Affairs.

On arrival at the Ibrahim Nasir International Airport this evening, President Waheed met with the local media and briefed them on the accomplishments of this visit. The President noted that this was indeed a very productive visit, and that Indian leaders were now clear on the current political and economical state of the Maldives.
