President Dr Mohamed Waheed has given interviews to some international media including NDTV, CNN-IBN, Times Now, New York Radio, Times of India, Hindustan Times, and UK’s The Daily Telegraph.

Questions were mainly focused on the President’s current visit to India, the political and economic situation in the Maldives, events of February 7, and the National Inquiry Commission.

Regarding the visit to India, President Waheed spoke on his meetings with the President, Prime Minister and other key figures of the Indian government, and shared with the media, their assurance of the Indian government’s fullest support and cooperation to the government Maldives.

Noting that the biggest challenge faced to the government today was the economic state of the country, the President said that necessary measures were being taken in solving the fiscal issues, and that the Indian government had assured of their assistance in overcoming the economic crisis in the Maldives.

During the interviews, the President reiterated that it was very clear that the development of events on February 7 was not caused by a coup.

At these interviews, President Waheed also said that for the first time in the history of Maldives, today, the state does not own a radio, TV or any other news media.
