President Dr Mohamed Waheed has today returned the Business Registration Bill, passed on 23 April 2012, the Corporate Profit Tax Bill passed on 24 April 2012, and the Sole Trader Bill passed on 25 April 2012, back to the People’s Majlis for reconsideration.
In separate letters sent to the Speaker of the Parliament Abdulla Shahid, the President detailed on the various concerns highlighted by the Attorney General, in her legal advice on the bills. He also requested the Speaker of the Parliament for further review and modification of the bills, with consideration of the points noted by the Attorney General.
