The Cabinet has advised President Dr Mohamed Waheed, to transfer the responsibilities of Works Corporation Ltd, to the Ministry of Housing and Environment, at today’s meeting.

Speaking on the matter, members commented on the lack of development achieved by Works Corporation, in carrying out the government projects, considering the high expenses and their slow pace of progress. Members also agreed that transferring these administrative responsibilities to the Ministry of Housing and Environment would allow the projects to be continued cost- effectively, and without interruption or cessation.

Discussions were also held on the breach of agreement by the Male’ City Council, in utilizing the land plots and other properties handed over to the City Council, by the Ministry of Housing and Environment. Following deliberations on the matter, the cabinet decided to entrust the Minister of Housing and Environment with the authority to reclaim the properties from the City Council when required. It was also decided that the plot of land behind “Dharubaaruge” would be brought under the control of the ministry.
