President Dr Mohamed Waheed has said that the different services provided to the people through councils could be done efficiently, only with the full cooperation from the councils and their members, to the state institutions, ministries, and the President.
The President made this remark while addressing the people of Hanimaadhoo, as part of his current tour of some islands in Haa Dhaalu Atoll.
In his speech, President Waheed highlighted the political divisions in the country, and the measures being taken by the government in avoiding them.
The President said that since his assumption of office, he had been in discussions with all the active political parties in forming a National Unity Government. Noting that with the input from all parties, the nation’s affairs were being run very smoothly, the President said that MDP had also been offered to be part of his government, though the offer had not been taken up.
