Cuban Ambassador Mrs Nirisia Castro Guevara has paid a courtesy call on President Dr Mohamed Waheed. The meeting was held this morning at the President’s Office.
During the meeting, President Waheed briefed the Ambassador on the political situation of the Maldives. He said his priority was to restore peace and order and to consolidate democracy in the country.
Ambassador Nirsia Castro congratulated the President on his assumption of office. She also spoke on the current economical challenges to Cuba.
The President and the Ambassador also discussed bilateral relations between the two countries and explored possibilities of enhancing those relations in the areas of culture and health.
