A delegation from Eydhafushi of Baa atoll today met with President Dr Mohamed Waheed. The meeting was held this afternoon at the President’s Office.
The members of the delegation congratulated President Waheed on his assumption of office and conveyed the peoples’ support to the government.
They also briefed the President on the developmental challenges faced by the people of the island. In this regard, they especially noted shortage of land as one of the biggest problems faced by the people of Eydhafushi.
President Waheed thanked the Eydhafushi delegation for expressing their support to the government. He also praised the people of the island for their hard work.
Speaking on the political situation, the President reaffirmed his commitment to restore peace and harmony in the country. He also assured the delegation that the government’s aim was to bring development to all the islands and that the government was now working towards this goal.
