Italian Ambassador accredited to the Maldives Fabrizio Pio Arpea has today paid a courtesy call on President Dr Mohamed Waheed.
During the meeting held at the President’s Office, the Ambassador highlighted the excellent bilateral relations between the Maldives and Italy, and expressed his hopes of further strengthening the relations.
President Waheed briefed Ambassador Arpea on the political situation in the Maldives, and the progress of the National Enquiry Commission. The President also spoke on the areas where reform was required. The President also stressed the importance of continuing to work through the parliament in stablising the political climate in the country.
