President Dr Mohamed Waheed has today visited Maamendhoo of Laamu atoll and met with the people of the island.
In his address to the people of the island, the President spoke on the current political climate. He said his aim was to work with all political parties and to restore unity among the people. He said there was no space in the country for people who create disharmony and that all Maldivians want peace and stability in the country.
In his speech, the President also highlighted the developmental needs of Maamendhoo. He said the government’s aim was to bring development to the island and assured that the government would work towards this goal.
Speaking in this regard, President said improving the quality of education as well as offering vocational training for school leavers was important.
