President Mohamed Nasheed has abolished the Public Complaints Bureau.
The bureau was abolished as there are independent institutions already established to inquire and investigate public complaints.
Following the abolishment of the Public Complaints Bureau, the Ministry of Home Affairs shall be the government office to inquire public complaints that do not fall within the mandates of the independent institutions.
