President Dr Mohamed Waheed has this evening opened the Outpatient Rehabilitation Centre in Fuvahmulah.
Speaking at the opening ceremony held at the centre, the President highlighted the importance of instituting such a centre in Fuvahmulah. He also praised the work done by Open Hands, an NGO dedicated to working against narcotic abuse, in helping out drug users in their rehabilitation process.
In his speech, President Waheed stated that the government sincerely appreciates their efforts put into rehabilitating drug users, and said that it was the government’s duty to provide all the assistance required in establishing such an institution.
President Waheed further spoke of his hopes for a well established rehabilitation and reintegration programme in the future, for those addicted on illicit drug use.
