Vice President Designate Mohamed Waheeduddeen has today met with President Mahinda Rajapaksa of Sri Lanka.

Visiting Sri Lanka as a Special Envoy of President Dr Mohamed Waheed, Mr Waheeduddeen presented a letter to the Sri Lankan President, on his behalf.

At the meeting, Mr Waheeduddeen noted the close relations established between the two countries, and discussed hopes for further enhancing the ties both the countries share. Further, Mr Waheeduddeen expressed his gratitude to the Sri Lankan government for the aid and support being provided to the Maldives.

The Sri Lankan President congratulated Mohamed Waheeduddeen on being the Vice President Designate, and spoke of his confidence on the diplomatic relations between the two countries continuing to thrive in the future.
