President Dr Mohamed Waheed has today met with the members of the visiting Commonwealth Ministerial Action Group. The meeting was held this morning at the President’s Office.

Discussions at the meeting focused on the measures being taken to resolve the current political situation.

The members of the delegation informed that the purpose of their visit was to gather facts on facts surrounding the transfer of power that took place in the Maldives recently.

The President assured that the government would give the Commonwealth delegation, its full support and cooperation in carrying out their mission. He also said that the government was fully committed to resolve the issues, within the bounds of the Constitution and laws.

Informing the delegation on the compilation of a roadmap on a way forward, President Waheed reiterated the need for full cooperation of all political parties, especially that of Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP). Further, the President said that his decision to include MDP’s representation in composing his cabinet has been informed to the party, and that their participation was very important.
