President Dr Mohamed Waheed has today met with the Head of Regional Delegation for South Asia of International Committee of the Red Cross, Mr Francois Stamm.
During the meeting held at the President’s Office this afternoon, discussions were held on the ongoing programmes undertaken by the Maldivian Red Crescent Society, and ways in which the government could assist in the continuation of the programmes.
President Waheed highlighted the importance of increasing NGO and community participation in Red Crescent activities. He also assured Mr Stamm that the government will provide its full cooperation in carrying out Red Crescent activities.
At the meeting, Mr Stamm expressed his gratitude to the government for the assistance and support being provided to the organisation.
