New Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran accredited to the Maldives, Mohammad Nabi Hassani Pour has presented his credentials to President Mohamed Nasheed today.
During the meeting held at the President’s Office this afternoon, the President congratulated the newly appointed Ambassador, and discussed with the Ambassador ways to further promote the long established bilateral relations between the two countries.
President Nasheed noted that the Islamic tradition in the Maldives has very much been influenced by Iranian traditions. The President also expressed his gratitude to the Iranian government, for their assistance being provided for development in the Maldives.
The President and the Ambassador spoke on further extending cooperation between the Maldives and Iran in the different areas of development in the country.
