Press Secretary Mohamed Zuhair has said that hidden agendas of those organizing a demonstration ostensibly to protect Islam have increased the scale of danger to public order.
During a press conference held today, the Press Secretary revealed to the media, three separate slogans published on the protest organizers website calling for Maldivian citizens to murder and slaughter fellow citizens seen by them to be against Islam. He said religious scholars Sheikh Adam Shameem bin Ibrahim and President of Adhaalath Party Sheikh Imran Abdullah had publicly associated their names and images to the website that called for violence in the name of Islam.
Press Secretary Mohamed Zuhair further said the removal of the slogans calling for murder from the website was meaningless, because newspapers and internet websites are usually published as daily editions. He said the publishers have not refuted their violent objectives by simply removing the slogans published on their inaugural edition.
The Press Secretary pointed out that religious scholars stood to lose respect being seen associated with these criminal objectives, as they were yet to publicly refute those slogans.
