President Mohamed Nasheed has met with the UN Country Team in the Maldives, at the UN Building today.
At the meeting President Nasheed expressed gratitude for the contributions of UN in supporting the Maldives to achieve its national development goals. The President further highlighted that UN is not a marginal agency, and said that public should seek to have a better understanding as to why UN is central to our development, and central to surviving in a community of nations. Further, the President and the UN Country Team in the Maldives held discussions on ways to improve development at country level.
Following the meeting, the President greeted UN staff and inquired about their employment with the UN.
