President Mohamed Nasheed has called for high priority in the investigations into allegations of corruption against the former and current government. The President made this request in his statement issued on the occasion of the International Anti-Corruption Day, being observed today.

In his address, the President has said that the most evidential documentations of different corruption accusations raised against the former government are state audit reports.

President Nasheed also noted the establishment of the Presidential Commission in 2009, appointed to assist the anti-corruption work done in the country. Further the President said that one of the government’s main objectives was to clear any residual backlogs, essential for the general welfare of the nation.
