President Mohamed Nasheed has said that a harmonious life in the South Asian region would be difficult without SAARC.
Speaking at the ceremony held on the occasion of the 26th Charter Day of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation, President Nasheed spoke on the work being done on assessing the SAARC charter.
Noting that a number of initiatives have now taken place in attempts to reformulate the charter, he said Maldives as SAARC’s Chair, is expending every effort in improving the charter, as the need to do so is imperative and urgent.
The President said that SAARC needs to be more relevant to its people and that SAARC leaders must be able to address the demands, dreams and aspirations of their people.
