Commonwealth Secretary General Kamalesh Sharma has paid a courtesy call on President Mohamed Nasheed.
At the meeting held at the Addu City State House this evening, the President briefed on the goals set for the SAARC Summit which would begin on Friday. The President also spoke on the developmental projects being carried out in Addu City.
The Commonwealth Secretary General congratulated President Nasheed for hosting this year’s SAARC Summit in the Maldives. Noting that this was the first invitation for a Commonwealth Secretary General to attend the SAARC Summit, Secretary General Sharma thanked the President for the opportunity.
President Nasheed and Secretary General Sharma also exchanged ideas on climate change and its effects to island nations. The Secretary General also praised President Nasheed on his exceptional work at this year’s CHOGM.
