President Mohamed Nasheed and First Lady Laila Ali have this evening departed to Australia, to attend the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting.
Prior to his departure, the President met with the local media at the Official Jetty of Male’ and briefed on his visit.
The President highlighted the opportunity of dialogues, during his visit to Australia, with a number of heads of governments, with whom the Maldives has diplomatic relations.
In his press briefing, President Nasheed also noted Commonwealth’s assistance provided to the legal and judicial reform of the country.
This year’s Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting is to commence on Friday the 28th of October.
