Vice President Dr. Mohamed Waheed has delivered a speech at the Sichuan University of China. In his speech, the Vice President mainly highlighted the environmental crises faced in the Maldives, and the measures against those crises by the government.

Vice President Dr. Waheed also spoke on the government’s commitment to become carbon neutral by 2020.

Speaking at the University, the Vice President noted that climate change was not only a problem for the Maldives and other low-lying countries, but that “climate change threatens each and every one of us.”

“What happens to the Maldives today will happen to you tomorrow, if we don’t solve the climate crisis”, added the Vice President.
