The cabinet has today decided to begin the transition from fuel power systems to solar power systems, by making solar power investments in islands with smaller, inefficient power systems. The cabinet made this decision after deliberations on the matter at today’s cabinet meeting.
At the meeting, members noted that solar power systems would be more cost effective in islands with smaller power systems, where the cost of power generation is very high despite the usage being less.
