President Mohamed Nasheed has this evening inaugurated the establishment of sewer systems and revetment of the seawall in Alifu Alifu Thoddoo. The President also laid the foundation for additional 6 classrooms to be built at the Thoddoo Madhurasa, under the government plans to convert all schools to single session schools.

At the ceremony held at the Thoddoo harbour area, the President commended the people of Thoddoo, for their hard work and contribution to the development of the island. Speaking in this regard, President Nasheed noted the many products of Thoddoo available at the local market.

Speaking on the social security scheme of the government, the President highlighted the government’s goal to provide health insurance under “Madhana” for all the people of the country, starting from the 1st of January 2012.

In his speech at the foundation laying at Thoddoo Madhurasa, President Nasheed expressed his hopes for the school to begin functioning as a single-session school at the beginning of the next academic year.
