President Mohamed Nasheed has today personally telephoned the families of the four students and Principal Ali Nazim of Hiriyaa School, who died in a tragic drowning incident this morning, while at a school camp in Huraa of Kaafu Atoll.
In his telephone conversation with the families, the President conveyed that he learnt of the dreadful incident with deep shock and grief, and sent his sincere condolences to the bereaved families on behalf of the government and himself.
The deceased students are Nash-ath Saeed, Mariyam Naza, Aishath Saniha and Mariyam Shaiha.
President Nasheed also declared the national flag to be flown at half mast for three days from today.
