President Mohamed Nasheed has inaugurated the Gaafu Dhaalu Thinadhoo Development Corporation Limited at a ceremony held after today’s cabinet meeting, in Thinadhoo of South Huvadhoo Atoll.
Speaking at the ceremony, the President noted that the key objectives of establishing the Thinadhoo Development Corporation Limited would be to ensure the economic development of the island, and in turn bring about national and regional development.
Highlighting the need to link all the islands to one another, President Nasheed said that today we have the facility of executive management services and general management services. The President also said that the next step would be to make better use of these services and to carry out the government’s work accordingly. He then assured the people that the government would do everything possible in achieving the developmental targets.
The Stadium of the Upper South Province was also handed over to the Gaafu Dhaalu Thinadhoo Island Council at this ceremony.
Following the ceremony, President Nasheed met with members of the Thinadhoo Island Council. Discussions were focused on developmental projects planned for Thinadhoo and other issues raised by the members of the island council. Members of the cabinet attended the meeting as well.
