President Mohamed Nasheed has sent messages of greetings to President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Syed Yousef Raza Gillani of Pakistan on the occasion of Pakistan’s Independence Day, and to the Indian President Pratibha Devisingh Patil and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on the occasion of India’s Independence Day.
In separate messages sent to the executives, President Nasheed extended warm greetings and sincere good wishes of the government and the people of the Maldives, to the people and the governments of both countries.
Pakistan became independent on 14 August 1947. India became independent on 15 August 1947.
