President Nasheed’s Presence at the Opening of Indian Ocean Island Games is a Testimony to the Importance we attach to our Relations and to Solidarity in our Region – Seychellois President

The President of Seychelles James A. Michel has said that President Mohamed Nasheed’s participation at the opening ceremony of the 8th Indian Ocean Island Games is a “testimony to the importance we attach to our relations, to solidarity in our region and to the values we hold in common”.

In his address at the opening ceremony, President Michel noted that the Maldives and all of the countries represented at the Indian Ocean Island Games, are linked by a common vision and that all the small island developing states need to work together. Thanking President Nasheed for his presence at the ceremony, President Michel said, “We need not only to speak out against climate change, but seek innovative solutions to a phenomenon which threatens our survival”.

The Presidential Delegation also attended the opening ceremony of the 8th Indian Ocean Island Games.
