The Seychellois Minister for Home Affairs, Environment, Transport and Energy Mr. Joël Morgan, Minister for Foreign Affairs Mr. Jean-Paul Adam and Minister for Investment, Natural Resources and Industry Mr. Peter Sinon, has today paid a courtesy call on President Mohamed Nasheed.
At the meeting, discussions were focused on the close bilateral relations between the two countries. President Nasheed and the Seychellois officials conversed on the establishment of a maritime company in the Maldives and training competent personnel in the field. They also deliberated on instituting a joint airline corporation between the Maldives and Seychelles, at a regional level, and ways to collaborate with each other in the deep-sea fishing sector.
The Governor at the Central Bank of Seychelles Mr. Pierre Laporte also paid a courtesy call on President Nasheed this morning.
At the meeting, Mr. Laporte shared with the President, the economic reform strategies undertaken by the Seychellois government.
The President invited the Governor to visit the Maldives and requested him to brief the concerned personnel in the Maldives, on the successful economic development programme carried out in Seychelles.
Seychellois Chief of Defence Forces Brigadier Leopold Payet and Commissioner of Police Mr. Ernest Quatre also called on President Nasheed today.
Later on, the President met with the Founder President of the Republic of Seychelles Sir James Mancham as well.
