Speaking at the second anniversary function of Child Abusing Prevention Society, Vice President Dr Mohamed Waheed has said that child abusers should not be accepted as part of the general society.

At the ceremony held at Bandos Island Resort and Spa last evening, the Vice President noted that in some countries, convicted child abusers are continued to be put in isolation from the general public, even after their prosecution.

Dr Mohamed Waheed expressed his gratitude to CAPS for conducting productive awareness programmes against child abuse, in the last two years. He also added that, as the social issues of the country increase day by day, social workers’ numbers should also increase equally. Further, he spoke of his hopes for an increased number of youth entering the field, in the future.

The Vice President, in his speech, encouraged all the NGOs to continue their work, and assured that the government would assist them in everyway possible.
